Conventional wisdom has narrowed the field of candidates for the second spot on the Democratic ticket to three contenders:  Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN), Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius, and Virginia governor Timothy Kaine.  I don’t think Obama would go with Bayh, merely because Bayh does little for the ticket other than assure that Obama would not be overshadowed, and he undercuts the message of change Obama espouses.

And between the remaining two, I keep thinking about what the Obama camp — one that values discipline and secrecy as much as they do — would be thinking with all of these rumors out about Kaine.  I suppose there’s the possibility it could be a leak by the Obama campaign, just to see what the response might be, but if it’s not an intentional leak, one might wonder whether the Obama campaign would be turned off by the loose lips among Kaine’s staffers.

Any thoughts?
